Distribution of credit card contracts in Japan 2023, by age group

As of December 2023, consumers aged 61 and older accounted for 32.9 percent of credit card holders in Japan. The share of credit card contracts grew proportionally with increasing age. At the end of 2023, the number of credit card contracts in Japan reached over 287.6 million.
