## Description

This dataset contains the first 8 years (2016 - 2024) of cloud cover data collected using the Aurora Cloud Sensor III from Aurora Eurotech located at the Kjell Henriksen Observatory, Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The sensor is installed on the south-west side of the observatory and has a ~20 degrees tilt towards south-east. The field of view of the sensor is 90 degrees.

The data is stored in monthly .csv files.

The data is described in more detail in this report by A. Marocco (https://kho.unis.no/doc/CloudSensorValidation.pdf). A higher clarity value corresponds to less clouds. For the winter months (November - February), Marocco found a clarity value of 56 or higher to correspond with a clear sky.
