资源简介:
Beginning November 28, 1988, archaeologists from Brockington and Associates in Atlanta, Georgia, began the fieldwork phase for data recovery at the historic locus of 38CH940, Charleston County, South Carolina. This work was initiated to partially fulfill the terms of a Memorandum of Agreement between Charleston National Golf Club and the South Carolina State Historic Preservation Office, under the direction of the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Program. The site was initially recorded as a part of a site location and assessment survey for Charleston National Golf Club (Brockington et al. 1987:82-88). 38CH940 is a multicomponent prehistoric and historic site encompassing approximately 7.1 hectares (17.8 acres) in area. The site contains an extensive scatter of shell and prehistoric artifacts which span a major portion of prehistory, and also a historic component (locus) dating to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
