VPRS 885 Inspectors' Reports

This series consists of diaries, inwards correspondence and reports from the Inspectors of Schools of the Denominational Schools Board. The first unit in the series is the journal of H C Childers, the first Inspector appointed by the Board whilst the other units contain the accumulated correspondence of other Inspectors as they went about their duties.Inspector Childers' journal (with additions from another person for Jan - Feb 1854) contains a numbered list of the questions regularly asked by the Inspector during an inspection as well as notes of the responses made to them. Details given include the numbers attending schools, the attainments of pupils, details of teachers and of the school buildings. The journal contains some sketch plans of buildings.Other items in the series contain details of Inspectors' diaries setting out the schools visited during a particular week, reports on their examination of students and reports on the schools covering such matters as enrolments, buildings, apparatus, instruction and discipline and teachers. Unit 3 also contains bundles of quarterly reports on schools.This series was previously registered as VPRS 885 Journal of Inspector Childers.
