Analysis of intestinal microflora in pigs fed different diets. pig gut metagenome

Diarrhea can lead to mortality and delayed growth in pigs and is a major economic loss in the pig industry. In this study, we evaluated non-antimicrobial materials that can prevent diarrhea to infection by enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) in weaned pigs and investigated biological changes (gut microbiota). For the analysis of intestinal microflora, DNA was extracted from jejunal, ileal, and cecal contents after the pigs were fed a diet. Analysis of the gut microbiota was performed by metagenomic analysis targeting 16S rRNA.
