Photograph from the beach of the Wharf and Pavilion at Venice Beach with Ship Cafe (not visible), ca.1905. About a dozen bathers frolic in the waves near shore. A rope is strung from shore to the wharf suspended above the water allowing swimmers to grab hold of it.
