Spending on vacation and leisure trips made by EU residents 2019-2022, by country

In 2022, German tourists reported the highest expenditure on leisure, recreation, and vacation trips among travelers from the European Union, at just under 100 billion euros. This figure increased sharply over the previous year and almost caught up with the expenditure reported in 2019, the year before the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, French tourists recorded the second-highest spending in 2022, at roughly 57.6 billion euros.
