Selective HIF stabilisation in 70% liver resection. Rattus norvegicus breed:Lewis

Parenchymal hypoxia has been recently shown to foster liver regeneration after resection. We hypothesised that this beneficial effect is linked to HIF-associated response pathways. We performed 70% hepatectomy in rats and administered roxadustat, a selective prolyl hydroxilase domain protein inhibitor, in order to assess whether a selective pharmacological HIF stabilisation affects liver function and regeneration postoperatively.
