Synergistic effect of phage-antibiotic combinations against Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from a burn patient

Antibiotic resistance causes around 700,000 deaths a year worldwide. Without immediate action, we are fast approaching a post-antibiotic era in which uncomplicated infections can result in death. Phages are bacteria natural enemies, which may provide an alternative to antibiotics. Here, we provide additional support for the potential of using phage-antibiotic combinations for the treatment of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.
