PrivaCI in VR: Exploring Perceptions and Acceptability of Data Sharing in Virtual Reality Through Contextual Integrity. Short Abstract Virtual Reality (VR) is increasingly embedded in daily life, offering immersive experiences but posing significant privacy risks due to extensive data collection. Few studies examine factors influencing data-sharing acceptability among users and non-users. To address this, we surveyed 1,198 participants in Germany using the Contextual Integrity (CI) framework. Findings reveal that consent and recipient are key factors affecting acceptability across demographics, including age, gender, education, IT background, and VR usage. Many are unaware of privacy risks and dissatisfied with current controls. This study underscores the need for policymakers, developers, and manufacturers to establish transparent standards and empower users with better privacy options, essential for maintaining trust and ensuring responsible VR integration.
