X-ray Study on the SNR-Cloud Interaction

The SNRcloud interaction gives significant effects on the Xray spectra; thecloud evaporation would enhance the thin thermal component, while the SNRcloudinteraction may trigger high energy particle acceleration and producenonthermal Xrays, and probably GeV gammarays. We propose to untangle ofthese two processes with the XMMNewton observations on the interaction andnoninteraction regions in the same SNR W28. The east shell of W28 consistsof two knots; the northern knot would be in preinteraction phase, whereas thesouthern one has just interacted with molecular clouds. The primary objectiveis to search for nonthermal Xray emissions from these knots,that is to say, the high energy cosmic rays from cloud interaction SNRs. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
