资源简介:
Colossoma macropomum, commonly known as tambaqui or cachama negra, is the second largest scaled fish in South America and is mostly distributed in Amazon river systems. Tambaqui is a fast-growing, omnivorous fish that tolerates poor water quality. It is an ecological important fish species for the amazon basin, acting as long-distance seed dispersers. It is the primary source of protein for Amazon dwellers. Also, tambaqui farming is a growing industry and is currently the largest native fish cultivated in Brazil. The present study sequences and assembles a draft genome of this important Amazon fish species, which will benefit new studies of its biological interaction with Amazon ecosystems and assist new ways to improve genome-assisted breeding programs of this farming species in South America.
