Effects of small bowel resection on the gut microbiome. mouse gut metagenome

Short bowel syndrome is a highly morbid clinical condition resulting from any disease process requiring surgical removal of a large portion of the small intestine. The characteristics and function of the gut microbiome following massive bowel resection is largely unstudied. In an effort to characterize these effects, 16S rRNA sequence has been generated from murine intestinal tract samples following massive small bowel resection.
