Across real systems—from astrophysical jets to institutional decay—trajectories fracture, mutate, and reconstitute. What persists is not the path itself, but the recursive coherence projected by memory. When that coherence fails, it is rupture—not deviation—that guides systemic evolution. This manuscript introduces Continuity Theory: a memory-centered epistemology of emergence. In this framework, perception is not observed but received—filtered through prior projection and residual distortion. Continuity is preserved not by stability, but by recursive realignment under structural pressure. We formalize this process using a new symbolic operator system that captures memory dynamics (𝓥), projected divergence (↟), continuity realignment (⊙), rupture thresholds (Θ), and emergent cognition (Ĉ). Unlike classical models, this system does not rely on equilibrium or time-smooth assumptions. Cognition is positioned not as a generator of order, but as an agent of distortion navigation—actively rewriting projections in response to collapse. Rather than reforming existing frameworks, this work proposes a new epistemic foundation for modeling volatility, reception, and transformation across physical, cognitive, and informational systems.
