In this study, high-throughput sequencing and absolute quantitative qPCR were used to study the diversity dynamics of biofilm microbial communities on microplastic surfaces in mangrove forests and nitrogen metabolism. The results showed that biodegradable plastic samples exhibited clear signs of biological degradation on their surfaces, while the surfaces of non-biodegradable plastics (PU, PP, PET) showed significant differences in the structure and succession of bacterial and fungal communities compared to biodegradable plastics (PBAT, PLA, PBAT/PLA). Over a period of 30 and 60 days, all groups exhibited an increase in biodiversity, but the long-term exposure of biofilms to the field led to a noticeable decline in microbial diversity.
