Polypropylene module as a new type of tank for rainwater storage and cleaner production

Rainwater recycling has received extensive attention in recent years, yet the biological functions and microecology in polypropylene (PP) rainwater storage module are not fully understood. This study investigated the impact of rainwater pollution level, storage time, and the operation mode of alternate replenishment of rainwater and reclaimed water on the pollutants removal performance, bacterial community characteristic of biofilm and water phases in rainwater storage tank, and constructed the correlations between water quality and bacterial community. These results provide novel insights into the biological purification mechanism, microecology and management approaches in PP rainwater module.
