资源简介:
The aim of the project was to establish whether an alloy with a nanocrystalline structure was able to demonstrate corrosion resistance (stainlessness) with a much lower level of chromium content compared to traditional corrosion resistant alloys. The study produced data on processing parameters for producing monolithic alloy samples of nanochrystalline structure using mechanical alloying processes, and data on high temperature data resistance (corrosion resistance). The study demonstrated that it is possible to achieve similar or superior degree of stainlessness in nanocrystalline iron-chromium alloys at only 10% chromium, in comparison to 18-20% chromium in conventional microcrystalline stainless steels. The project was a collaboration between researchers from Monash University, the Indian University of Technology, the University of Central Florida, the University of Toronto, and North Carolina State University.
