RNA was extracted by miRVana small RNA extraction kit from caryopses 8 days after anthesis. After quality control (Bioanalyzer) small RNA libraries were
processed by GenXPro for sncRNA libraries with TrueQuant technology for elimination of PCR bias from two biological replicates for each condition. Here the fraction of 140-160bp was size-selected
by preparative polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis for Illumina HiSeq2000 sequencing of the small RNA fraction of 17-40bsp including the miRNA. To make the counts more comparable between the
samples/smallRNA-Seq libraries the data were normalized to TPM values (tags per million).
