Bacillus subtilis var. natto ameliorates Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontal disease mouse model.

This study examined the inhibitory effect of Bacillus subtilis var. natto (natto) on periodontitis using a mouse model of Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontitis. The expression of genes related to anti-inflammation, immune response, metabolism, and transport was affected in the gingival tissue of the natto-fed group. These results indicate that natto has an inhibitory effect on periodontal disease.
