Canis lupus familiaris Transcriptome or Gene expression

Naturally-occurring canine malignant melanoma is a powerful comparative model for human BRAF wild-type and sun-shielded melanoma subtypes, but little is known about its genomic landscape. We mapped the genomic landscape of canine melanoma through multi-platform analysis of seven tumors. These tumors and matched normal tissues from six dogs were analyzed with both whole genome DNA sequencing and RNA sequencing. Identification of pathogenic mutations in canine melanoma informs biological comparisons between canine and human melanoma while suggesting actionable targets in both species.
