These dog coprolites were recovered from archaeological sites in the American Midwest, dating to approximately 1000-1200 years before present. These coprolites were shotgun-sequenced for the purpose of examining the ancient dogs' diet and gut microbiome, to compare to other archaeological analysis methods to examine diet and health of these dogs and the humans they associated with.
