Synchrotron data - Ryan 4271 (Oct 2011) - Calibration and characterization of Maia 384 at XFM

The great success of the XFM beamline KB end-station equipped with the Maia detector to provide outstanding high-definition element images for a host of user applications over the past year is tempered a little by the limited calibration, characterization and demonstration of Maia for quantitative results in this configuration. The aim of this experiment is to complete systematic calibration and characterization and to demonstrate the effectiveness of new real-time processing modules in Maia, SXRF modelling in GeoPIXE and online tools for correction of data in real-time and in off-line processing. This user instrumentation physics experiment is essential and will directly benefit all users of the XFM-KB-Maia facility.
