From Lock 4 to Loxton - Controlling Prickly Pear

The Bookpurnong Lock 4 Environmental Association will undertake this project with the sponsorship of Loxton to Bookpurnong Local Action Planning Committee. This project will monitor and control the sporadic outcrops of Prickly Pear (a Weed of National Significance) on, or near, the eastern-side floodplains of the River Murray between Lock 4 and Loxton. Control of Prickly Pear in the target area will significantly reduce the threat posed by the plant to Katarapko Island (a National Park) across the river and remove a significant fruit fly host from the area
