Antioxidant therapy after SCI

Carnosine is a natural antioxidant dipeptide formed by beta-alanyl and L-histidine. In addition to its antioxidant role, this dipeptide also contributes to the maintenance of intracellular pH and to the quenching of oxygen, nitrate, and carbonyl free radicals. In the body, carnosine is synthesized by different types of cells. The study evaluated the effect of Carnosine treatment on glial cells after spinal cord injury.<br>
