Observational records of animal behavior in response to the temporary inundation of abandoned rice paddy fields in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture.

This list comprises observation records from a citizen-participation survey conducted on 14 October 2023, investigating animal behavior following the temporal inundation of abandoned rice paddy fields in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture. The survey was conducted on two occasions: the first, 30 minutes after the commencement of the inundation; the second, three hours thereafter. The records in question pertain to nine teams of two-person pairs of surveyors. The categorization of animal behavior was conducted based on each team's records, with the behavior being classified into three distinct types: horizontal migration, vertical migration, and visiting. Of the total 325 records, 187 (58% of the total) contained readable data on the animal's behavior towards the inundation within the listed categories. Of these, 101 instances involved vertical migration, 78 involved horizontal migration and 8 involved visiting.
