Transcriptome of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 after its growth in blood from healthy volunteers vs. Luria-Bertani broth

In comparison with its growth in Luria-Bertani broth for 4 hours to reach early log phase, growth of P. aeruginosa PAO1 in whole blood from healthy volunteers altered the expression of multiple virulence genes, including QS and QS-regulated genes. The differential expression of these genes and synthesis of the virulence factors they encode throughout the growth cycle of P. aeruginosa suggests that P. aeruginosa continuously adjusts its expression of virulence genes in response to factors present in the blood.
