The systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020215247) and was documented according to the Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) guidelines. We used electronic databases like PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Embase to search relevant articles from 2000 to 2020 using the appropriate keywords like “diabetes mellitus”, “high blood sugar”, “type 2 diabetes”, “prevalence”, “risk factor” and “Nepal” along with relevant Boolean operators. The eligibility criteria for inclusion were:1. All papers (cross-sectional studies, case series reporting more than 50 patients, cohort study, RCTs) mentioning prevalence of Type 2 DM and/or detail of DM like risk factors, outcome, and outcome predictors2. Studies conducted from 2000 onwards till 20203. Studies in Nepal only.4. Published articles.We excluded1. Editorials, commentaries, viewpoint articles with no proper data of diabetes mellitus and lacking adequate data of interest will be excluded.2. Studies conducted outside Nepal.3. Studies before 1999 AD.4. Studies of Type 1 DM and GDM.HISTORY
