资源简介:
Site 42Ws4832, located in Washington County, southwest Utah, contains slab-lined thermal features, a spiral alignment of upright slabs, a surface rock cairn, rock scatters, lithic flakes, and ceramic sherds. Samples from the fill of six slab-lined thermal features were examined for pollen, macrofloral remains, and/or for organic residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Charcoal fragments from five of the features also were AMS radiocarbon dated. Pollen and macrofloral analyses will be used to provide subsistence information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants, specifically if cholla cactus was processed at the site. FTIR analysis will be used to address use of both plants and animal resources. AMS radiocarbon dates will provide temporal information about site occupation.
