16S rRNA sequencing of bacterial gut microbiota of cockroaches and termites

Termites nutritionally depend on their gut microbes. Large-scale and comparative sequencing analysis of the gut microbiota provides insights into the evolution of this complex symbiosis. Here, we performed amplicon sequencing of bacterial 16S rRNA from the entire gut of various termite and cockroach species on a Illumina MiSeq platform.
