Supporting Materials for "From Turnkey Diplomacy to Tailored Consortia: How China's Strategic Reorientation is Reshaping Civil Nuclear Cooperation across Eurasia, 2018–2025"

This record contains supporting materials for the article “From Turnkey Diplomacy to Tailored Consortia: How China’s Strategic Reorientation is Reshaping Civil Nuclear Cooperation across Eurasia, 2018–2025.” The materials are based on a corpus of eight annual volumes of the Chinese Nuclear Energy Blue Book (核能发展蓝皮书: 中国核能发展报告) covering the period 2018–2025. The corpus contains approximately 2.164 million Chinese characters and was used for the qualitative content analysis presented in the article. The deposited materials include two supporting datasets exported from MAXQDA: Frequency of Internationally and Domestically Oriented Strategic Categories in China’s Nuclear Energy Blue Books, 2018–2025 and Mentions of Sino-Eurasian Nuclear Cooperation by Blue Book Volume Year, 2018–2025. These datasets contain the code-matrix results used in the article’s qualitative content analysis. The record also includes two figures created on the basis of these MAXQDA datasets: Figure 1. Frequency of Internationally and Domestically Oriented Strategic Categories in China’s Nuclear Energy Blue Books, 2018–2025 and Figure 2. Mentions of Sino-Eurasian Nuclear Cooperation by Blue Book Volume Year, 2018–2025. In addition, the record includes Appendix A: Codebook, which provides the coding framework used in the analysis. The appendix defines the strategic categories, gives examples from the Chinese Nuclear Energy Blue Books, and sets out the coding rules applied to internationally oriented strategies, domestically oriented strategies, and Sino-Eurasian nuclear cooperation partners.
