The objectives of the study were to (1) explore the diversity and communities structures of microbes in sediments of Yangtze River from upstream to downstream, (2) evaluate the potential relations between spatiotemporal variation of bacteria and urban levels, seasons, properties of sediment, (3) and provide theoretical support for setting up the water environmental evaluation index system and repairing of water quality of Yangtze River.
