Temperature is measured using an NIST-certified temperature probe with a measurement range of -20oC to 50oC ± 0.5oC at each water plant.
Raw water = Untreated water that is coming into the Britannia water treatment facility
Intake = raw water intake is approximately 427m out from Britannia plant. It is comprised of 12 reinforced fibreglass bells located on the last 29 m of intake pipe which may be broken down into 6 pipe lengths of approximately 5 m; each with two bells attached to it’s top. Each intake bell is secured by sandbags on the river bottom at an approximate depth of 10 m. The intake/bell mouth is 2m in diameter which faces downstream, and velocity is 0.11 m/sec with intake capacity of 364 ML/day. The raw water sample point is right after the last bell structure towards the plant on the intake pipe, 10m down.

Contact: Gwyn Norman
