Wetlands of international importance in the Canary Islands

The __wetlands of international importance__ constitute a set of sites protected under the [Wetlands Convention](https://www.ramsar.org/sites/default/files/documents/library/current_convention_s.pdf) (Ramsar, 1971), of which UNESCO is the depositary, which includes sites that have a unique value both ecologically and in the capacity to implement development models compatible with their conservation. In the Canary Islands there is a site that is part of the [List of Wetlands of International Importance](https://www.ramsar.org/en/our-work/wetlands-of-international importance/the-list-of-ramsar), ES1262 [Saladar de Jandía](https://rsis.ramsar.org/en/ris/1262) or Playa del Matorral (Fuerteventura).
