Animal Logistics in Pilgrimage-Related and Religious Travel Narratives: Human-Audited Article Dataset, 1,270 Validated Witness-Incidents

This data-only release supersedes the previous article dataset after a complete human audit of all 1,415 previously retained witness-incidents. The human audit removed 145 false-positive records and produced a revised validated dataset of 1,270 animal-logistics witness-incidents. The revised dataset contains 347 full point-resolved records, 287 conservative article-map points, and 923 non-point incidents by count. The audit corrected LLM-induced and pipeline-induced errors including Latin mare interpreted as an animal where it meant sea, source-language metadata errors, animal_type=unspecified rows where the animal was clear in the text, and other field-level miscategorizations. The release includes the human-audited incident table, updated geospatial layers, non-point location records, count summaries, review outputs, and documentation needed to interpret the dataset. The dataset should be cited as the human-audited version of the article data.
