Literature-derived datasets on freshwater phytoplankton food quality and Daphnia life-history responses

This dataset compiles literature-derived data on the nutritional composition of freshwater phytoplankton and the life-history responses of Daphnia fed different algal diets. Table S1 includes sterols, polyunsaturated fatty acids, proteins, and amino acids of phytoplankton, while Table S2 includes Daphnia survival, somatic growth, population growth, and reproductive responses. The corresponding data sources are provided in the Supplementary References. The dataset can be used to compare the food quality of different phytoplankton groups and their capacity to support Daphnia growth and population maintenance.
