Images from Watching Brief and Descriptive Buildings Record (level 2) at Middleton House, Finkle Street, Sheriff Hutton, North Yorkshire, January to March 2024

This collection consists of images from a watching brief and descriptive buildings record (level 2) by On-Site Archaeology, at Middleton House, Finkle Street, Sheriff Hutton, North Yorkshire, from January to March 2024. The building recording investigation revealed that Middleton House had undergone major alteration to the front of the house with numerous phases of extensions added to the rear. The interior also revealed phases of reconfiguration of rooms and changes to the original stairway. The watching brief revealed a number of red brick walls, a well, cobblestone surfaces relating to the former 19th century brewery buildings and a horse burial, which probably also related to the brewery.
