LINGUOCULTURAL REPRESENTATION OF PARENTAL AUTHORITY IN ENGLISH NOVELS

This thesis discusses the linguocultural representation of parental authority in English novels. In literary texts, parents and guardians are not only family members; they also represent social values, moral rules and cultural expectations. Their authority is expressed through advice, commands, warnings, silence, criticism and emotional pressure. These forms of speech show how children are taught respect, obedience, responsibility and self-control. At the same time, parental authority may limit personal freedom and create inner conflict. The study focuses on how English novels present family communication as a reflection of wider cultural norms.
