Replication Data for: Socio-ecological determinants of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use behavior of adolescents in Kilifi County at the Kenyan coast

The data were obtained from a cross-sectional qualitative study on health risk behavior of adolescents and the participants involved: adolescents, young adults, and professionals who work with adolescents in Kilifi County at the Kenyan coast. The Microsoft Office Excel file “ATOD factors (.xlsx)” is a matrix that summarizes: (i) risk factors for use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by adolescents; and the (ii) protective factors against the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by adolescents in Kilifi. The factors are summarized according to the socio-ecological levels The Microsoft Office Excel file “Forms of Alcohol and drugs used (.xlsx)” is a matrix that summarizes: the contextually relevant examples of alcohol and other drugs that adolescents in Kilifi reported as commonly prevalent or at least consumed by their peers in Kililfi. These matrices are extrapolated from the careful work done in Nvivo softare. In Nvivo the views captured in audio recordings taken during the interviews and latter transcribed; were organized to make meaningful interpretation guided by the socio-ecological model.
