Bacteria with plant growth promoting traits are considered as a reliable alternative to current chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the attempt to reduce environment polution and to preserve the agricultural ecosystems. Bacillus velezensis P3.3S is a rhizobacterial strain with multiple mechanisms involved in plant growth promotion, including: phosphate solubilization, IAA, siderophore and ACC deaminase production. In addition, B. velezensis P3.3S has important in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity, producing secondary metabolites such as polyketides, lipopeptides and siderophore. Therefore, we consider B. velezensis P3.3S strain as a good candidate for the development of biofertilizers and biopesticides to be used in agriculture.
