This is the Supplementary Data for 'Sea-level rise and increasing variability are accelerating record-breaking coastal floods across the Global North' by Ben Hague, Danielle Udy & David Jones.This contains 247 images - replicates of Figure 1 for all gauges included in the analysis. The caption for these are: Example of record sea level (red line) and their relationship to annual maximum (black lines) at tide gauge location indicated. The relationship is shown (a) as observed, and (b) under a counterfactual with annual mean sea level removed.It also contains two data files. Current Records includes the current record level ('Level'), the minor flood level defined by Hague et al. (2023) ('Minor) and the year the record was set ('Year Set') as well as basic gauge metadata taken from the GESLA metadata ('Latitude', 'Longitude', and 'Country').Historical Records and Extremes provides the following columns for each of the 247 gauges for 1800 - 2020 where available :ann_max: the annual maximum (hourly) sea level recordedann_msl: the annual mean sea level calculated from hourly dataann_max_no-msl: i) under the counterfactual of no sea-level riserecord_level_obs: observed record level (i.e., highest ann_max to date)record_level_no-msl: iv) under the counterfactual of no sea-level risenew_record_obs: True (1) or False (0) for whether new record setnew_record_no-msl: vi) under the counterfactual of no sea-level risetheoretical: probability of setting record in year in a stationary climate.The Historical Records and Extremes file also provides total across the 247 gauges for vi ('total_obs'), vii ('total_no-msl') and viii (total_theoretical'), as well as the number of gauges with a valid annual maximum (i) for the year ('total_gauges).
