The consumer survey data was collected in 2017 from respondents in low- and middle-income households key urban consumption zones and rural districts in the states of West Bengal and Odisha in eastern India. The key information obtained was dishes consumed during different eating occasions (i.e., breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, and special occasions), frequency of consumption of each dish by eating occasion, purchase behavior and food access, and attitude towards food.
