Rice is traditionally a glycophyte i.e. susceptible to salt stress while Oryza coractata is a monocot, halophyte. In this study, we have isolated RNA and made 4 small RNA libraries, two each from the control and stress-treated flag leaves of O. coarctata with the objective of detection of salinity responsive miRNAs. Unique miRNAs that will be differentially expressed in O. coarctata under salinity stress may be useful for developing more salinity tolerant rice plant in future.
