Totten and Mertz Glacier Voyages - Phytoplankton Pigments - 2014/15 and 2016/17

This dataset contains phytoplankton pigment measurements for the Totten and Mertz Glacier regions, analysed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). There were two voyages to this region. For the first voyage in 2014/15 a suite of pigments were analysed including chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll c (c1, c2, c3), fucoxanthin, alloxanthin, gyroxanthin diester, 19'-butanoyloxyfucoxanthin, 19'-hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin, peridinin, prasinoxanthin, crocoxanthin, violaxanthin and zeaxanthin. For the second voyage in 2016/17 chlorophyll a was analysed only. Measurements were taken at 6 depths throughout the water-column at each station. Additional samples were taken whilst the ship was in transit to and from Antarctica (transit samples) using the underway seawater line with the intake at 7 m depth.The data are in two separate spreadsheets – one for each voyage (2014/15 and 2016/17). All pigment concentrations are in µg L-1. At CTD stations data is provided for 3-6 depths.
