资源简介:
We propose to observe all new unassociated gamma-ray sources from the 4FGL \r\nFermi catalogue at declinations < -30 deg. We pursue two major goals: \r\n1) to provide a portion of the SED for radio to UV part of the spectrum for \r\nthe AGN sample of gamma-ray loud AGNs and 2) to provide a sub-sample of \r\ngamma-ray sources that are non-AGNs for further observations that target \r\ndetermination of their nature. We will achieve it by following up the radio \r\nsources brighter 10 mJy detected with prior ATNF observation in the error \r\nellipses of every unassociated 4FGL source. Proposed observations will \r\neliminate the hemisphere bias in the number of associations of gamma-ray \r\nsources. These observations significantly enhance the value of \r\nthe Fermi mission by a) establishing the nature of those gamma-ray sources \r\nthat are associated, and therefore their radio-to-gamma SED and redshift \r\nbecome known, and b) providing a clean list, free from AGN contamination, \r\nof those sources that are still unassociated. These scientific goals are \r\na part of broader efforts to understand gamma-ray sky. In particular,\r\nto answer the questions 1) what is the nature of ``empty fields'' \r\ndiscovered from prior radio observations; 2) are known gamma-ray \r\nloud AGNs the tail of the distribution or there exists a population of \r\nradio-quite gamma-ray AGNs and characterize gamma-ray sources through \r\nVLBI association that immediately allows gamma-ray/Gaia association \r\nthat provides optical color, IR-color, UV-color, redshift, etc.
