Chlamydomonas reinhardtii demonstrates near-planar strokes when swimming. These data sets give the (X1,X2) positions of a single flagellum in a Newtonian fluid with viscosity 2.6 cP (ntExperiment_X1Component.csv, ntExperiment_X2Component.csv) and in a viscoelastic fluid with viscosity 2.5 cP and polymer relaxation time 0.041 seconds (veExperiment_X1Component.csv, veExperiment_X2Component.csv). Each row of the data gives points along the flagellum spaced approximately 0.34 micrometers apart for a fixed time. The time interval between rows is 0.0017 seconds. The files ntFit.xlsx and veFit.xlsx contain the mean position (M) and the amplitude (A) and phase (Phi) of the dominant frequency at each data point for each stroke, respectively. The period of the dominant frequency is 0.0199 seconds for the Newtonian stroke and 0.0205 seconds for the viscoelastic stroke.All data have a unit if micrometer in length and second in time.
