The dynamics of low-power openParFRIclosePar jets

The dynamics of lowpower radio jets are largely determined by interactions withthe surrounding Xray emitting gas. With previous XMMNewton observations, wehave detected evidence for radiosource heating and have used environmentalmeasurements to constrain detailed threedimensional kinematic models of jetdynamics. Here we propose to reobserve one of the best candidates for this typeof study, 3C 31, for which our previous observation was unusable due to flarecontamination, and to observe for the first time the lower luminosity radiogalaxy B2 1553+24, in order to determine the physical properties of the jets andto investigate their interactions with the environment. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
