资源简介:

Source data and analysis code accompanying the manuscript "The enigmatic limb pattern of thalidomide embryopathy is set by postero-anterior maturation" (Y. Cohen). The dataset (Cohen_2025_Source_Data.xlsx) is a unified, element-level coding of thalidomide-induced limb reductions assembled from 26 published human and non-human-primate sources spanning 1958–2025. The "Source index" sheet lists every source with per-source case counts, species, and documentation; the "Coding key" sheet gives the coding conventions; "All cases" holds the analysed cohort coded element by element; and each source has its own sheet with the verbatim-derived coding. The included scripts reproduce every quantitative result and figure in the manuscript: reproduce_results.py (cohort assembly, per-element prevalences, the within-segment antero-posterior reduction rule, shared-sensitive-window analysis, cross-species rank concordance, the timed-primate dose calendar, and the lower-limb rule with cross-segment asynchrony); make_figure1.py (regenerates Figure 1); and validate_all.py (asserts every computed value against the manuscript, 32/32 checks). Scope: the within-segment reduction rule is tested in 279 limbs (254 upper — 135 human, 119 primate — plus 25 primate hindlimbs), with zero violations. The hindlimb series, being scheduled and high-dose, enters the rule count only; all prevalence, sensitive-window, and bypass analyses are upper-limb. To reproduce: python3 reproduce_results.py Cohen_2025_Source_Data.xlsx
