Redundancy analysis of Tampa Bay fish communities

This dataset contains the outputs of a distance-based Redundancy Analysis (db-RDA) which helps visualize the relationship between catch per unit effort (CPUE) data for exploited fish and invertebrate species in Tampa Bay with site and environmental data. Data were aggregated into species groups after Ainsworth et al. (2015). The data are contained in an Excel workbook with worksheets “Eigenvalues”, “Proportion explained”, “Site scores”, “Environmental loadings”, and “Species scores”. The saved components of the db-RDA include the Eigenvalues, the proportion of variance explained for each canonical axis (e.g. dbRDA1, dbRDA2 ...), and the remaining proportion of variation explained by the Residual axes (e.g., MDS1, MDS2 …). Source CPUE and environmental data were based on Fisheries Independent Monitoring (FIM) from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) (https://myfwc.com/research/saltwater/fim/) and use 21.3 m beach seine and 6.1 m otter trawl data. We acknowledge assistance from Courtney Saari at FWC for assistance with the FIM data. Environmental loadings reported (in order) are salinity, dissolved oxygen, wind shear, sea grass coverage, other vegetation coverage, macro algae coverage, sea surface temperature (SST) winter, years, SST summer, wind speed, and chlorophyll A (Chl A). All of these are from FIM except for wind shear, SST and Chl A. Wind shear is from WAVEWATCH III (Tolman 1991, 2009) Version 2.22 GEFSv12 reforecast data available on Amazon Web Services (ftp://ftp.emc.ncep.noaa.gov). We used monthly data from 2019 to determine an annual average. Wind shear was determined as the geometric mean of the N-S (u) and E-W (v) velocities at the surface. SST and Chl A data were used from Aqua-MODIS monthly aggregated data (NASA Ocean Color Web, https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/). These represent level 3 gridded products covering July 2002 to November 2023 with monthly aggregation.
