VPRS 9822 Maintenance Workers Dispute 1977: Papers of William De Campo, Assistant General Manager (Operations)

This series comprises files and papers accumulated by William de Campo, the Assistant General Manager (Operations) during the 1977 La Trobe Valley power strike. This dispute arose when a log of claims was presented to the State Electricity Commission of Victoria by the Central Gippsland Trades and Labour Council on behalf of maintenance workers employed by the SECV. As the dispute progressed, the log of claims was extended to all employees of the SECV.The dispute was resolved after hearings concerning the strike were held by the Australian Conciliation and Arbitration Commission from August to October 1977. Copies of the hearings of the Conciliation and Arbitration Commission are included in the series. The papers include evidence of the different perspectives on the cause and outcome of the strike held by the SEC and Trades Hall.
