Association of Genetically Predicted Serum Metabolites with the Risk of Androgenic Alopecia: A Mendelian Randomization Study

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), or male/female pattern hair loss, is a prevalent chronic issue in dermatology clinics. Despite its high prevalence, AGA is challenging to treat due to its chronic nature and the complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. Nowadays, extensive metabolomics research on AGA patients has revealed significant changes in hormones, amino acids, lipids, and other metabolites.
In this study, we employed a two sample MR analysis to assess the association between 1,400 serum metabolites and AGA risk, supplemented by meta-analysis and metabolic pathway enrichment analysis. Our study may provide insight into the genetic perspective of AGA.
